The blog post section will be dynamic, used to track progress and activities so that partners, contributors, and volunteers have visibility on all activities. As mentioned on the home page, transparency is key to the success of the collaboration of our partners and contributors to the mission. Please refer to the page titled "Where the Donations Go" to see a full accounting of all monetary activities, whether they be donations or expenses.
As of this posting, I am the only person who has contributed funds toward establishing this non-profit organization, including the website and labor costs.
Today, I purchased the URLs: partnersindisaster.com, partnersindisaster.org, partnersindisaster.info, and partnersindisaster.net along with this website hosted by Wix. The website URL partnersindisaster.com was purchased and hosted by Wix. The purchase included email for one user: bear@partnersindisaster.com. The additional URLs were purchased from GoDaddy.
I started building the site and working through all the settings. I used AI to create a logo that I'm still considering for use and to create the background image. I also utilized AI to clean up some of the language used to communicate more clearly. So far, I like the AI features.
Partners in Disaster has been a long-time vision of mine. The need for it became evident after supporting recent disaster responses in North Carolina, Nevada, and New Mexico. During a disaster response, many needs must be supported simultaneously. Our Emergency Management teams utilize all their available resources to respond to their best ability. However, more resources are available to meet additional needs more efficiently if facilitated through planning and implementation in collaboration with the community leaders and emergency management teams making decisions.
Partners throughout our communities want to help when those in their communities are suffering. These partners include:
Local businesses
Faith-based organizations
Fraternity groups
Youth teams and clubs
Individuals
A lot of times during disasters, partners start collecting things and stuff for those who are affected without realizing the stuff is not usually needed until much later. Partners in Disaster has been created to work with community partners and emergency management teams to identify the needs partners can fill when disasters occur and the process to call our partners to quick action.
